Road Racer’s Adventures: NZ Superbikes, Levels Raceway

The Timaru located Levels Raceway, played host to the latest New Zealand Superbike Championship rounds, which proved fruitful for a range of seasoned, vastly experienced NZ street racing alumni.

Whanganui Robert Holden Memorial Champion Mitch Rees, potent turn of form continued, wrapping up second place finishes times three, behind former Kawasaki Moto GP team member, Anthony West.

No.1 plate holder Rees astride again Honda tackle, had the added distinction of attaining a new outright lap record, which he sealed during the third, final Superbike race, lapping at 1:02.249 seconds.

Ex Manx Grand Prix participants Ben Rosendaal, Nick Southerwood featured amongst this weekend’s winners circle.

Same applied to the widely respected three wheeling partnership of Barry Smith and Stu Dawe.

It’s now just below two months till the next NZ Superbike Championship event.

Hosting the penultimate round of the series is Teretonga Park Raceway. Competitive action takes place from the 9th-11th of March.
