Road Racer’s Adventures: Europe Endurance Classic Cup, Paul Ricard

FIM Europe Endurance Classic Cup action for 2021 kicked off last month at Circuit Paul Ricard, as numerous respected yesteryear racing specialists circulated around the current French F1 Grand Prix venue.

Leading roads scene racers competing included 2019 Ultra Lightweight Manx GP victor Lancelot Unissart.

Piloting alongside Berenger Muller GS-1000 Suzuki machinery, Unissart who hopes to return to pure road racing next month at Circuit De Chimay, come the completion of the four hours long Endurance race stint, would place overall 25th, 4th in class.

Taking the no.1 spot in terms of Classic class competitors was the 1000J Kawasaki mounted team of Christian Haquin and Timothee Monot.

Monot like the aforementioned Unissart has established himself over the past eight years as one of France’s leading closed roads course exponents.

A proven dab hand with yesteryear steeds, Monot and Moto Shop 35/ IT2M team mate Haquin 92 laps combined around Circuit Paul Ricard, would also yield alongside Classic class success, an excellent overall top six finish.

Attentions now for Europe Endurance Classic Cup racers switches towards Belgium and the much loved ex Grand Prix racing venue of Spa Francorchamps, with competition getting underway from the 2nd of July.
