Race circuits worldwide whether real road racing related, street circuit, purpose-built pop up in many unusual places.
Below is a prime case in point:
Located in a desert within Southern California (USA), the fast, flowing 2.68 miles long Chuckwalla Valley Raceway hosts each year national racing events.
Last weekend, the latest CVMA (Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association) rounds took place, featuring a group of renowned racers.
This included MotoAmerica regular David Anthony and fellow countryman, former Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Champion, Rennie Scaysbrook.
The Formula Middleweight race opener would see Scaysbrook lap sub 1 minute 50.5 seconds, on route to a creditable 12th place finish.
Journalist Scaysbrook who last year made his TT Races debut, lapped at 116 mph plus, went onto take respective seventh, fourth place finishes from the six-lap Supersport Middleweight races.
