Whilst the attentions of the pure road racing fraternity, were transfixed on the 100th Anniversary Manx Grand Prix, the latest BSB round at Cadwell Park, saw a selection of roads scene alumni excelling.
In particular, BeerMonster Ducati’s Glenn Irwin excelled, taking back-to-back SBK race wins, finishing runner-up to team mate Tommy Bridewell in the final big bike race stint.
Eight times North West 200 winner, quickest TT Races newcomer in history Irwin is now only 14 and a half points behind series leader Bridewell, with only three rounds left to take place.
In contrast to the Paul Bird Motorsport outfit, FHO Racing BMW had a mixed Cadwell meeting with Josh Brookes pocketing eighth place finishes times three and world’s fastest road racer, 13 times TT winner Peter Hickman, claiming a best finish of ninth from the opening Superbike encounter.
Hickman’s own PHR Performance team joined the British Supersport podium finishers club, as F900R BMW Cup Championship leader Richard Cooper, wrapped up a hard earned second place finish in the feature middleweight class race.
The sole National Superstock 1000 Championship race would see North West 200 wins record holder, Alastair Seeley, finish leading non-Honda powered racer, getting the better of C&L Fairburn Properties/Jackson Racing’s Billy McConnell for third.
Fresh from helping his dad Billy at the Manx GP, Milenco by Padgetts Conor Cummins was back on riding duties.
The ‘Ramsey Rocket’ post fifteen laps of the highly regarded Cadwell circuit, placed 16th in the stock 1000 category, on route setting a best lap time of 1 minute 30.786 seconds.
The next BSB, support Championship rounds take place from the 15th-17th of September, with Oulton Park (international circuit configuration) the host venue.
