The eighth racer to take part in Road Racing News, recently launched Racing on the Irish Roads – Racers Recollections series is 2022 Irish Road Race Junior Support Championship runner-up, Michael Gahan.
His answers to the Irish road racing themed set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: What is your first Irish road racing memory?
“Getting to the North West 200 as a teenager watching the racing over the fences. Thinking that is completely mental!”
Q2: Present favourite Irish road race?
“Has to be Skerries.”
Q3: Who is your most respected fellow Irish roads exponent?
“Michael ‘Micko’ Sweeney has my respect he raced the Super Twins with us, the man has loads of knowledge and gave advice when needed.”
Q4: If you could alter one aspect, in particular, within the sport, what would it be and why?
“I’d say make it cheaper to race.”
Q5: To date what has been your favourite Irish roads moment?
“Having a battle with Keelim Ryan for first place at Kells. We both over shot the last corner, I did a stoppie past the corner and came home in 3rd. Mega memory.”
Q6: Irish road racing summed up in one word, what would it be?
“Crazy”
Q7: Is there any Irish roads event, that you haven’t raced at yet that you would like to?
“North West 200”
