Having dazzled during the second qualifying session, at the 50th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, the question has to be asked, can Glenn Irwin win on his debut at Macau.
Tomorrow’s 12 lap race sees the Be Wiser Ducati rider, start from third on the grid, following his extremely impressive lap time of 2 minutes 25.065 seconds.
A podium finisher at the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix, he has gelled exceptionally quickly, with the iconic and historic streets of Macau.

His unique sounding Pagniale Ducati mount, has proven an ideal Macau GP stead.
For many Ducati’s are not the ideal machinery, for competition at the international roads meeting’s.
With this been the case, perhaps the main reason why the Ducati has proven so fruitful at Macau, is due to the layout of the iconic roads course, which provides a feel of roads and short circuit competition combined.
This is another aspect of what makes the Macau Grand Prix unique, it’s an event which Glenn Irwin already adores.
Loving the atmosphere, the ambience, the surroundings and most of all the circuit, Glenn it’s fair to say has been for many the standout competitor thus far of the 50th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Will he finish his Macau GP debut in the best possible way tomorrow, with race victory? it’s a possibility, but there’s a few factors to throw into the equation.
They are, how quickly will the Ducati get off the line compared to the BMW’s, will the experience of his fellow competitors prove key, and how durable will the Metzeler tyres be compared to the Dunlop mounted competitors.
If it all comes together though, we could very well be looking at Glenn Irwin, as a new international road race winner.
