Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Colin Croft

Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Colin Croft

16th in last year’s Lightweight Classic TT, Colin ‘Crofty’ Croft who’s roads resume also includes various very creditable results at Scarborough, is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News growing in popularity, Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series.

A Manx GP competitor since 2012, his answers to the Scarborough themed series of questions are as follows:

Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?

“First memory riding will be 2010 or 2011, very, very nervous met Moz Owen (Paul Owen) in the pits and he said excuse my French, ‘Are you Sh*****g yourself’ I said yes and he said you should be! So that’s one of my first memories of been there.”

Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?

“After the latest Barry Sheene meeting, I loved the way they organised the last meeting, it was night and day different from the old lot, it was a pleasure to be there and watch those people work so hard, an absolute pleasure to watch them work.”

Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?

“I don’t think I particularly have a favourite section, I don’t like Farm Bends I’m not keen on that, but everywhere else, I love the rest of the circuit just Farm Bends, cause I never get it right!”

Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?

“I don’t know if I particularly have a best moment, I just really enjoy been there, I just like the whole thing.”

Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?

“Well there’s obviously all the good guys, again it’s pretty much everyone who takes part. I’ve always admired Alistair Haworth round there on the 400, cause I started on a 400 so used to love watching him round there. Just generally everybody.”

Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?

“I’d love to ride a proper two stroke round there.”

Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?

“Awesome”

Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?

“Pretty much anybody who goes out there and turns a wheel, has my respect.”
