Runner-up in both Supersport B races from the Cock O’The North meeting of 2017, KY-JAX Racing’s Ben Shuttlewood who secured a brace of top ten finishes at July’s Barry Sheene Classic, is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News growing in popularity, Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series.
A podium finisher this year at the Southern 100, his answers to the Scarborough themed set of questions are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“Watching Nick Weston on his 1951 Triumph Sidecar, overtaking on the grass at the start of the race.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“The atmosphere, you go from having a laugh and a joke with other racers, to having a great close battle during the race, then back to having a laugh again, what it’s all about.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“I can’t say I have a particular favourite section, the whole course is awesome fun especially during a good battle but the memorial section does seem to be a strong point for me.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“For me personally the Cock O’The North from 2017, qualifying 2nd on the grid for the 600 B races and swapping and changing positions throughout the races battling for the lead, going onto finish 2nd in both races.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“Would have to be David Jefferies, he made the Mount look effortless.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“I would love to have ago on a Sidecar round Oliver’s mount, looks a bit gnarly.”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Old school”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“Steve Haddow, great racing and the guy’s nuts!”
