North West 200 – Thursday Superbike Practice News

In fabulous conditions all round Thursday superbike practice session at Vauxhall international North West 200 saw a new lap record set by Michael Dunlop competing on the BMW motorrad backed S1000RR BMW superbike. Twice North West 200 winner set a lap speed of 122.275 to gain pole position for the superbike races on Saturday.

Michael Rutter finished second quickest with a lap speed of 121.834 on the Bathams BMW superbike whilst Alastair Seeley finished third fastest on Mar Train racing ZX10 Kawasaki. Guy Martin got quicker and quicker throughout the practice session to finish 4th quickest in front of Tyco Suzuki by TAS team mate William Dunlop who is already super happy with the bike which he feels will be ultra competitive at the Isle of Man TT.

Bruce Anstey was leading Honda mounted rider competing for Valvoline racing by Padgetts motorcycles finishing sixth overall. Conor Cummins showed good form to finish seventh overall in practice whilst Stuart Easton produced good pace and consistent lap times to complete the top eight.

Martin Jessopp finished 9th overall on Riders motorcycles S1000RR BMW, James Hillier rounded out the top ten for Quattro Plant Kawasaki. Leading newcomer in practice was Ice Valley racing by Motorsave ltd rider Peter Hickman who finished 21st quickest, Didier Grams was second best newcomer in 29th position, Laurent Hoffmann team mate of Peter Hickman’s finished a highly 36th fastest overall.
