Munster 100: Sheils Wraps Up Irish Road Race Superbike Championship, Wins Compelling Open Championship Race

Kicking off race day at Glanmire in style, BE Racing In Conjunction with Richardson Kelly Racing’s Derek Sheils, wrapped up the 2019 Irish Road Race Superbike Championship crown, having emerged victorious from a compelling Open Championship race.

Closely pursued throughout by Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney, Sheils as showcased on multiple occasions this summer found that extra gear when needed, to claim a tenth 1000cc race success of the 2019 roads season.

His final race winning margin stood at 4.141 seconds, as Skerries Sweeney dropped his pace a touch on the sixth and final lap.

Behind Sheils, Sweeney, 2018 Newcomers A Manx GP winner Thomas Maxwell produced an accomplished performance to round out the podium finishers.

Fourth place on aggregate timing went to second fastest Mountain Course newcomer from TT 2019, Ray Casey who finished just under seven seconds clear of the non related Stephen Casey.

Former Newcomers B Manx GP winner Derek Wilson secured sixth, Noel Carroll placed seventh, Lloyd Collins fresh sampling for the first time Circuit De Chimay finished eighth as Stephen Tobin, Paul Fallon wrapped up the first ten finishers.
