MCUI Ulster Centre Announcement Tops Off Positive Week For Pure Road Racing

There’s been a few pieces of massively positive news during this week, in relation to closed roads action in 2020.

First and foremost road racing is set to return this weekend within the Czech Republic, with the yesteryear machinery based Nepomucký trojúhelník meeting.

Additionally today’s announcement by the MCUI Ulster Centre, detailing that two wheel competition can return in Northern Ireland, is clearly ultra, ultra-positive news for pure road racing fans.

The following statement issued by John McClure, MCUI Ulster Centre Chairman, only adds to the confidence of Cookstown 100 organisers, who’s event is planned to take place from the 11th-12th of September.

“The Directors of the MCUI UC (the Management Committee) wish to update all our licence holders, clubs and members of the current situation regarding a return to competition as the NI Executive are easing restrictions on an increasingly frequent basis.

We have received permission from the Department for Communities and Sport NI to resume competitive motorcycle racing again, including spectators (as long as they can be controlled). This is extremely welcome news.

However, it is vitally important that everyone complies with the social distancing and hygiene measures outlined in our guidance document (click here) and track and trace protocols.

Event promoters will be required to complete an event specific COVID 19 Risk Assessment that outlines the measures they will put in place to respond to these exceptional circumstances.

The MCUI UC would like to thank everyone at SportNI, Department for Communities and NI Sports Forum for their assistance during this emergency.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding in these extraordinary times, we are making progress together, but remember please, stay safe.”

As we’ve been stating during the Road Racing News podcast, keep positive, keep going, there is light at the end of the tunnel, not long to go till Irish Road Race action returns!
