McGuinness Dominates Sunday Senior Classic Practice Stint

Almost a minute faster than top chaser Stefano Bonetti, John McGuinness MBE opened his 2022 Manx GP account in sterling fashion by dominating opening Senior Classic practice.

Looking in a calm, cool frame of mind, McGuinness pace was anything but calm as the 23 times TT winner set a steadfast best lap time of 20 minutes 28.886 seconds (109.637 mph).

Aforementioned Italian star Bonetti (104.939) also Paton mounted finished second quickest, over 55 seconds behind the 23 times TT Champion.

Top non-Paton racer, TT Privateers Champion Jamie Coward (104.481) placed third fastest.

Others joining Coward in recording 100 mph plus lap speeds were Alan Oversby (103.312), versatile racing all-rounder Michael Russell (102.725), yesteryear Superbike front-runner Rob Hodson (102.094) and TX-500 Yamaha powered Lee Johnston (101.689).

Rounding out the Sunday Senior Classic top 10 leader board were Nathan Harrison (96.871), Will Loder (96.749) and John Leigh-Pemberton (96.301).

Quick shout-out to Mountain Course first timer Andy Hornby (92.420), who finished a very respectable 13th fastest.
