MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix: Todd Eyeing Superstock, Superbike Rostrum Challenges

Aiming to build on a very productive start to his second MCE Insurance Ulster GP campaign, Cookstown BE Racing’s Davey Todd is firmly optimistic that he can battle tomorrow for Superstock, Superbike rostrum finishes.

More than a touch competitive in yesterdays opening Super Twin, Supersport races, scoring fourth, fifth place finishes, second quickest newcomer in TT history Todd believes though his main chance for securing rostrum finishes from Saturday morning on wards, will be within the 1000cc races.

Speaking today, the affable, talented next generation road racer stated:

“I think really our forte is the big bikes. That’s where we’ve seemed to really excel in the second half of this year, and while I want to do well on the 600 as well of course, the big bike is where we’re really progressing.

I had a great battle with Dean on Thursday but we haven’t had the Superstock or Superbike races yet, so I’m really eager to get out on the grid for them.

We’re third on the grid for the Superstock race and fifth, only just missing out by 0.2 seconds on a front row start on the Superbike race so it’s definitely going to be a tight one with some good battles.”

Adding that he’s delighted to be keeping honest world leading International roads stars such as Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman, he stated:

“Above everything it’s great to be battling with the likes of Dean and Hickman, I never imagined it so soon but if I can keep that ball rolling and keep doing what we’re doing I’m sure the podium will come.”
