MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix: No Stopping Elkin In 125/Moto 3 Qualifying

Prior to dominating last evening’s opening Ultra Lightweight race at the MCE Insurance Ulster Grand Prix, Christian Elkin also proved a league in front of his fellow competitors in the second timed qualifying session for 125, Moto 3 machines.

Bob Wylie Racing’s Elkin, like the majority of the leading class front runners Moto 3 Honda mounted, powered to overall pole position, lapping Dundrod at 4 minutes 04.581 seconds, equating in lap speeds terms to 108.937 mph.

Elkin’s pace was so hot that second quickest on the overall qualifying time sheets, Paul Robinson (4.07.742), was over three seconds down on his fellow former North West 200 winner.

Third quickest on Thursday, but overall fourth quickest was Gary Dunlop (4.08.347), whilst second, third place finishers from last night Michal Dokoupil (4.10.886) and Nigel Moore (4.17.153) respectively took fifth, sixth quickest placings on the timing screens.

Rounding out the ten quickest 125, Moto 3 qualifiers were Italy’s Lorenzo Tiveron (4.19.402), leading Austrian road racer Christopher Eder (4.21.479), Melissa Kennedy (4.24.579) and Dundrod newcomer Chris Meyer (4.25.206).
