Manx Grand Prix senior race
- Updated: August 31, 2012
John Simpson took a dramatic win in the senior Manx Grand Prix race today after conditions around the circuit got worse as the race went on. At the start of the race the conditions where sunny and in most areas dry all round until by the end of lap 2 when the rain started to fall at the grandstand and then around most areas of the mountain course. Despite this newcomer Simpson got faster as the race went on achieving a brilliant race win ahead of fellow newcomer Andrew Soar who rode superbly on the final lap to end up only 2 seconds behind the winner in second place. Long time race leader Wayne Kirwan on the Crossan Motorcycles Yamaha R6 finished in third place only 5.7 seconds behind John Simpson who’s win was the first senior Manx Grand Prix win for Triumph since 1948!
Fourth place went to Ross Johnson, fifth place went to Andy Lovett with Paul Smyth on the PRF racing Suzuki GSX-R 750 finishing in 6th position. So thats the Manx Grand Prix for this year and what great racing we have had, again like at the TT this year many up and coming road racing stars are emerging as future TT winners. Next road race meeting coming up is the Faugheen 50 road races in Ireland where a top quality entry can be expected.
