Manx Grand Prix Junior race

Wayne Kirwan on the Crossan Motorcycles Yamaha R6 took a popular race victory today in the Junior Manx Grand Prix race. The race saw three different leaders throughout and many positions changing one way and another before the all important pit-stops took hold at the end of lap 2 which allowed Wayne Kirwan to open up a big advantage over the chasing pack. Also Wayne set the fastest lap of the race at 115.5 mph on the final lap of the race. Mike Minns took second place 28 seconds down on Kirwan with Stephen Mcknight taking third place a further 10 seconds behind Minns, the top three on the podium where all on Yamaha R6’s making it a Yamaha 1, 2, 3.

James Cowton finished in a brilliant 4th place on his Honda CBR 600 setting his fastest lap of the race on the final lap with a lap speed of over 115 mph. Stephen Harper took fifth place on his Triumph 675 Daytona supersport bike with Jonathan Woodward taking sixth place. Michael Sweeney finished in 7th place on his Yamaha R6 after having been up in the top 3 in the first few laps. John Simpson on the Splitlath Redmond Motorsport Triumph 675 Daytona took 14th place with his fastest lap being 114.1 mph. Tomorrow sees the Lightweight and Mini-twins races in action after what has being a great days racing in the Junior Manx Grand Prix.
