Top North West 200 debutant of 2022 Gary McCoy, is the latest respected real roads exponent to disclose his intention to take in next month’s, Bob Smith Spring Cup.
A newcomer to Scarborough at the Spring Cup meeting of 2021, the multiple purpose-built circuits Champion quickly caught the eye, going onto finish amongst the most rapid adapters to North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’.
He had to wait till September in 2022, before he could tackle again the 2.43 miles long Oliver’s Mount circuit.
The 70th Scarborough Gold Cup would see McCoy acquire four top eight finishes, lap in the low 1 minute 52 seconds, bracket.
Overall 11th quickest from last year’s Gold Cup, the MadBros Racing rider is a definite one to watch next month.
Such is his enthusiasm about England’s only existing real roads circuit, that all remaining 2023 Scarborough road races, Cock O’The North, Barry Sheene Classic and 71st Scarborough Gold Cup all feature on his 2023 racing itinerary.
Another timely reminder, the Bob Smith Spring Cup featuring McCoy, SMT Racing’s Rob Hodson, various OM Racing stalwarts gets underway in one month’s time, running from the 15th-16th of April.
