With good visibility, good conditions all-round, allied to racers growing in confidence around the Guia circuit, the standard of riding during the second, thirty-minute qualifying session was extremely accomplished.
Backing up the form he showed during free practice, the prior opening qualifying session, Erno Kostamo confidently secured pole position for tomorrow’s eight-lap races.
Twenty minutes into Q2, Kostamo set the quickest lap time to date of this year’s Macau GP, lapping at 2 minutes 28.202 seconds.
This left him 1.884 seconds ahead of top pursuer, leading Guia circuit newcomer David Datzer.
Daytona 200 runner-up Sheridan Morais showed a good turn of pace, to finish third fastest in front of Superbike Classic Manx GP winner Rob Hodson.
Lukas Maurer, like South Africa’s Morais, quietly caught the eye placing a creditable fifth quickest.
Behind Maurer, Moto E points finisher Andre Pires placed sixth, WH Racing’s Julian Trummer was seventh fastest whilst respective eighth to tenth speediest runners across Q2, were:
Toll Racing/Optimark supported Raul Torras Martinez, IRRC Supersport legend Laurent Hoffmann and Czechia’s quickest TT Races exponent, Kamil Holan.
