John McGuinness Enjoys 2014 Scarborough Gold Cup Securing Top Results

John McGuinness enjoyed the 2014 Scarborough gold cup as he secured top results on Valvoline racing by Padgetts motorcycles CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade. John has had a difficult season due to a wrist injury but the 21 times TT winner was fighting fit for this years gold cup where he was aiming for more standout results around a road race circuit which he always enjoys competing at.

Opening senior a race saw the road racing legend produce an as ever calm, smooth and highly accomplished performance as he recorded third place finish. Second senior a race would prove to be as in opening race a highly consistent one for John as he battled throughout for third position with Daley Mathison.

Although in the end John finished in fourth position as tyre issues arose it was still another highly creditable result for the rider who achieved his 21st TT win in this years TT zero race. The Steve Henshaw international gold cup was next on the horizon and the 1999 gold cup winner gained a excellent start into mere hairpin on opening lap pushing Ivan Lintin for race lead.

From here John maintained second position setting highly respectable lap times on Valvoline racing by Padgetts motorcycles CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade. By the end of the eight lap race second position was secured making it John’s best gold cup result since 2011.

Overall the 2014 Scarborough gold cup was a very productive one for John McGuinness who is all set to compete at this years Macau Grand Prix where he will be bidding for his first win around Macau since 2002. Plus looking to 2015 Mcpint is set to be once again Honda mounted for superbike and senior TT races as he aims to add to his tally of 21 Isle of Man TT victories.
