Italian, Swiss Speed Merchants Seal European Hill Climb Titles

The third and final FIM European Hill Climb round of 2021, the only one held outside of Italy, saw competitors making the trip to Austria to tackle the high speed Bergrennen Julbach course.

Going into the title deciding round, holding a Superbike Championship lead in excess of 30 points, a brace of top four, top five finishes would prove more than enough for 2019 Senior Classic TT runner-up Stefano Bonetti, to secure a sixth European title.

Salvatore Sallustro via fifth, third, third, fifth place finishes within the 1000cc race stints at Julbach, finishes runner-up in the final Superbike Championship standings, 35 points adrift of fellow countryman Bonetti.

Third place in the standings was secured by race three victor at Julbach, Frenchman Jean Luc David.

Titles delight for Bottalico, Testoni, Bongard:

Joining aforementioned North West 200 victor Bonetti in clinching European title success on Sunday included dominant Supersport class conqueror Maurizio Bottalico.

Untouchable on multiple occasions during 2021, Bottalico’s final Championship winning margin stood at thirty points ahead of tenacious lead chaser Tiziano Rosati.

Guido Testoni was even more dominant than Bottalico in the two stroke 250 class, ending the season with an unblemished unbeaten record via back to back Julbach course triumphs.

Reflecting upon the Supermono category, there was an identical story to the above mentioned with Philippe Bongard of Switzerland ending the season unbeaten.
