IRRC Imatranajo: Hoffmann Joins 2018 Winners Circle With Battling Supersport Race 2 Triumph

Joining the coveted winners circle at Imatranajo, Delaur Road Racing Belgium’s Laurent Hoffmann held off a tenacious challenge from Thomas Walther to claim the IRRC Supersport race 2 spoils by just 0.2 of a second.

Behind the experienced duo of Hoffmann and Walther, third place in the re started race went to the versatile Lukas Maurer, who continues to cement his reputation as arguably Switzerland’s leading international road racer.

Event wildcard, race 1 victor Pauli Pekkanen finished fourth, Sebastian Frotscher was fifth as Slovakia’s Miroslav Sloboda impressed in concluding the top six finishers.

Terlicko Supersport winner Jonathan Goetschy was seventh, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Ilja Caljouw banked eighth as another of the hugely impressive event wildcards Anssi Koski, finished a very respectable ninth.

For the first time this season, championship leader Matthieu Lagrive was a non finisher, whilst another notable non finisher was fellow countryman Pierre Yves Bian, who’s championship hopes took another significant hit.
