IRRC Frohburg Meet Abandoned

IRRC Frohburg Meet Abandoned

It feels like repeating a broken record but unfortunately the Covid-19 pandemic has forced the abandonment of another truly top draw pure roads event, the IRRC affiliated Frohburg meeting.

Prior to today’s event cancellation announcement, it was hoped that Germany’s most famous in current existence roads course Frohburger Dreieck would host the sole IRRC action of 2020, with competition commencing from the 19th-20th September.

A statement issued today by Motorsportclub Frohburger Dreieck Chairman Tom Nowka, reads as follows:

“After the latest version of the Saxon Corona Protection Regulation came into force last week, we have decided to postpone the 58th Frohburger ADAC triangle race until 2021.

We have not been fulfilled the hopes of easing we need to hold an event of the usual size without taking a risk to the responsible, the active and also spectators.

The financial risk for our club would be far too great to be able to hold such a restricted event. We have decided on the more reasonable solution, i.e. a cancellation in 2020.

The goal is now to look positively into the year 2021 and hope that the usual normality we are all accustomed to will resume. Please understand our decision.”

“Of course we will catch up on our anniversary celebration 60 years of MSC Frohburger Triangle in 2021. We plan the 58th Frohburger Triangle race for September 18/19 2021.

Until then, I wish you all all the best on behalf of the board of the MSC Frohburg. Please stay healthy so that we will meet again in 2021 for the planned events in Frohburg.”

Whilst it’s extremely disappointing that Frohburg is no longer part of the real roads calendar for 2020, it’s worth reminding everyone that many roads events are still planned to take this year, including the following:

14th-16th August Barry Sheene Classic
5th-6th September Dymokury
11th-12th September Cookstown 100 (Subject to approval)
11th-13th September Scarborough Gold Cup – Oliver’s Mount
2nd-3rd October San Pedro Martir Hill Climb

3rd-4th October Aberdare Park Road Races
25th October Greymouth Street Races
13th-15th November Cain Road Race
19th-22nd November Macau Grand Prix
26th December Cemetery Circuit Races
