IRRC Chimay: First Rate Webb Continues Premier Class Domination

Continuing his domination of the 2018 IRRC Superbike series, championship leader Danny Webb added 1000cc qualifying honours at Chimay to his growing collection of tumultuous feats from what’s been thus far, a quite memorable, stellar season for the Tunbridge Wells racer.

Wepol Racing by Penz’s Webb, competing for the first time on the fast flowing, technical roads of Chimay, topped in accomplished fashion both qualifying sessions, recording a combined best time of 1 minute 37.253 seconds.

Leading the challenge to the on top form Webb, was former IRRC Superbike champion, event wildcard Vincent Lonbois (1.37.686), who was just under 0.45 adrift of the Frohburg lap record holder.

Markka Racing’s Erno Kostamo (1.40.783), presently second within the series standings, showed consistent, solid pace to finish fifth quickest, as Switzerland’s Lukas Maurer (1.41.063) finalised the six quickest qualifiers.

Acquiring 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th on the combined overall qualifying time sheets were David Datzer (1.41.895), Juha Kallio (1.41.946), Ales Nechvatal (1.42.454) and Christophe Guerouah (1.42.586).
