Originally red flagged, following Karel Pesek’s incident on the start-finish straight, the re-run IRRC Horice, Superbike second qualifying session boasted truly astronomical turns of speed!
2023 IRRC SBK Champion Lukas Maurer (Maurer Racing – Yamaha), sampling his first IRRC round of 2025, ‘King of Imatranajo’ Erno Kostamo (RVS Motorsport – BMW) traded unofficial lap-records.
Top TT newcomer from 2019 Maurer was first to best David Datzer’s qualifying/race lap-record, going below 2 mins 12 seconds (2.11.831).
The Swiss rider’s next roller coaster trek around Horice, yielded an even faster time, 2.11.688 seconds.
Next across the line, 2019 Macau GP winner Kostamo, pace had also intensified and how! surpassing Maurer’s prosperous pace injection, winning Q2 with a sensational, 2 minutes 11.403 seconds lap.
Third on the timing screens, Johannes Schwimmbeck (2.15.439 – KFZ-Schwimmbeck – BMW) was plus four seconds astray of Kostamo’s history making heroics.
