With temperatures nearing 30 degrees, warm, humid, sweltering competition was a guarantee for the 25 plus racers sampling the second big bike ‘Czech TT’ race tilt.
Race non-starters included Darryl Tweed and Come Geenen, whom we at Road Racing News wish a very speedy recovery.
As in this morning’s Superbike race, David Datzer remained resoundingly No.1 SBK pilot around Horice.
In contrast to the previous race, new IRRC 2024 – Superbike Championship leader Datzer got the hole shot and quickly hit his stride, setting on lap two, a new outright lap record of 2 minutes 12.041 seconds.
4.263 seconds ahead as lap four beckoned, ‘Datzii’ went onto bank race spoils by close to 3.1 seconds, having rolled off his pace a touch during the tenth, final lap.
King of Imatra, Erno Kostamo again led the pursuit to his fellow BMW mounted rider. The talented Finnish rider is now the second quickest racer in ‘Czech TT’ history, after lapping on lap eight at 2 minutes 12.449 seconds.
Lukas Maurer whose Yamaha sported a new swing-arm, took third, having early-race held P2.
Outside the top three, fourth-eighth place finishes went to the determined group of Didier Grams, Johannes Schwimmbeck, Luca Gottardi, Markus Karlsson and Tomas Toth.
Laurent Hoffmann, Anssi Koski rounded out the first ten finishers whilst non finishers would include Karel Pesek, Rhys Hardisty, who retired on lap six, after running as high as ninth.
