Race day at Spain’s leading pure road race, the La Baneza Grand Prix, took place under a dark cloud following the tragic passing of Javier Alvarez Perez from a practice incident.
Racing in honour of Alvarez Perez, two-stroke classics, top race win honours (125/Moto 3) were unlocked by established event great, Alex Martinez Mas.
Sergio Fuertes increased his La Baneza GP wins record, leading the four-stroke classics fraternity.
Top Euro Twins class competitor was David Posada Sanchez whilst non-Spanish racers racing included Armoy race winner last month, Chris Meyer and Czech road racing regular, Marek Stibor.
As showcased in previous articles those gaining victories on Sunday were emulating various famous names, who have enjoyed success at the Leon based meeting.
This includes Dani Saez, eight times World Champion, ‘The Prince of Speed’ Phil Read MBE and 90 times Grand Prix winner Angel Nieto.
God speed Javier Alvarez Perez, thoughts with his family and friends.
