Sometimes the phrase history maker is-used to lightly but in Rushab Shah’s case, its only right.
India’s first ever IRRC (International Road Racing Championship) racer, the 2022/2023 UAE Supersport (Rookie) Champion tackled for the first time this year, IRRC events at Schleizer Dreieck, Circuit De Chimay and Horice.
Discussing his European roads scene endeavours, Shah who linked up with twice IRRC Supersport Champion Laurent Hoffmann’s, Hoffmann by MRP outfit, stated:
“The overall experience was great; to say I was thrown straight into the deep end is an understatement!
New bike, new tracks, and new countries that I’ve travelled to, lots to take in and lots to learn in an insanely short amount of time. Enjoyed every bit of it and will be more prepared next season!”
When asked about potentially joining Mountain Course racer ranks, in-the near-future, he enthusiastically said:
“The whole reason of coming to Europe to road race is to eventually race on the Mountain Course.
I need more races under my belt before sending my application over. I am working towards preparing myself for the challenge and if all falls into place, I shall be lining up at the Manx in-the near-future.”
Helping ten-fold push on real road racing’s popularity in his home nation, Shah outlined how events such as the TT, Northwest 200 are-perceived.
“Everyone has heard of the TT, racing fans have also heard about the NW200 and Ulster GP. It isn’t as popular as MotoGP but there is a keen interest in road racing especially with the videos being so viral on social media.
Many people get shocked when I tell them I road race and their eyes light up learning about a fellow countryman doing this extreme sport.
I’m sure it’s only going to grow as more-and-more promotion and content is created around it.”
