With good conditions all round the superstock TT race for 2010 began with Ryan Farquhar taking a early lead at Glen Helen on lap 1 from Michael Dunlop, Conor Cummins and Ian Hutchinson.
By Ramsey on lap 1 Ryan Farquhar had opened up a slight gap over the chasing pack which was lead by Michael Dunlop and Conor Cummins both in close proximity as they battled over second place.
At the end of lap 1 Ryan Farquhar was leading on the KMR Kawasaki superstock bike in front of Michael Dunlop, Conor Cummins, Ian Hutchinson, Keith Amor and John Mcguinness who completed the top six.
Lap 2 at Glen Helen saw Ryan Farquhar’s lead at the front up to over 4 seconds from Michael Dunlop in second place who was a couple of seconds in front of Conor Cummins on the Mcadoo racing ZX10 Kawasaki.
As lap 2 went on Farquhar’s lead out front maintained around the four second gap, Michael Dunlop still held second place in front of Conor Cummins and Ian Hutchinson both closely matching each other in the battle for third place.
By the pit stops at the end of lap two positions out front remained the same. The pit stops would bring drama as Michael Dunlop suffered a bad pit stop which lost him time which meant Ian Hutchinson was now into second place and Conor Cummins now third.
Onto lap three and Ryan Farquhar was still leading now by over five seconds over Ian Hutchinson now in second place on the Padgetts racing CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade superstock bike.
Conor Cummins held third place whilst John Mcguinness moved into fourth place in front of Guy Martin, Keith Amor, Ian Lougher and Michael Dunlop who completed the top eight.
As the riders crossed the line at the end of lap three Ryan Farquhar had over a four second lead over Ian Hutchinson in second place who was some 20 seconds in front of Conor Cummins who maintained third place.
The final lap of the race beckoned and many a fan at the Isle of Man TT was wondering could Ian Hutchinson make it three wins from three starts at the Isle of Man TT in 2010.
At Glen Helen on lap four Ryan Farquhar’s lead was down slightly but down to only now around exactly four seconds. But as the final lap of the race went on it was clear that Ian Hutchinson was on a charge.
Ryan Farquhar gave it everything on the KMR Kawasaki superstock race on lap four but soon his lead out front kept getting narrower and narrower as we entered the final stages of the 2010 superstock TT race.
Ian Hutchinson and the Padgetts racing CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade where in perfect harmony together on lap four, a special lap from the rider known as “Hutchy” was imminent as the final lap of the race came to its conclusion.
So as Ian Hutchinson crossed the line he had to wait till Ryan Farquhar had crossed the line to know if he had the superstock TT race. When Ryan crossed the line it was confirmed that Ian Hutchinson had won the 2010 superstock TT race by just 1.3 seconds.
Ian’s final lap was over 130 mph a new lap record for the superstock class. Conor Cummins came in second behind Ryan Farquhar to make it two Kawasaki riders on the podium.
John Mcguinness, Guy Martin, Keith Amor, Ian Lougher, Michael Dunlop, Michael Rutter and Adrian Archibald rounded out the top 10. A truly memorable superstock race at the Isle of Man TT which saw Ian Hutchinson win his sixth race at the Isle of Man TT.
