With the Port Nelson Street Races, Paeroa Battle of the Streets meets cancelled, the Honda Invercargill Street Races confirmed to take place on the 10th of February, look set to not only open the New Zealand closed roads schedule for 2019, but also have the honour of being the first closed roads meeting worldwide next year.
Part of the Burt Munro Challenge series, the popular meet gained strong publicity a plenty in 2016 when 19 times International road race winner Guy Martin tackled the tight, twisty Invercargill street course for the first time.

Ultimately a tenth place finisher in the Formula 1 race, at the time won by Mitch Rees son of Cemetery Circuit legend Tony Rees, Guy’s appearance two years ago was gold dust for the event organisers.
Since the worldwide popular racer, TV personality’s appearance, the meet has continued to steadily rise in popularity, firmly establishing itself amongst New Zealand’s most acclaimed, popular and important roads events.
Anticipated to attract next year, another diverse, wide ranging top quality entry list comprising of many of New Zealand’s leading roads competitors, the Honda Invercargill Street Races is a must for road race fans locally and worldwide.
