Following intensive planning, upping his rally raid experience, James Hillier’s Dakar Rally dream finally got underway on the 31st December.
Successfully completing the prologue stage, the first stage of the 45th Dakar Rally, saw the 2013 Lightweight TT winner, racing under the OMG Racing banner place 101st overall, after almost six hours of riding.
To put this into context, it took the Ringwood racer just under two hours to complete last year’s Senior TT.
Tomorrow sees another gruelling Dakar stage in prospect, for the 14 times TT rostrum finisher, as he aims to complete the over 425 kilometres long route, from base camp to Alula in Saudi Arabia.
