Dually hosting the penultimate round of this year’s European Hill Climb Championship, CIVS (Campionato Italiano Velocita Salita) time-trials, no shortage of thrills arose from Spoleto – Forca Di Cerro course action.
Maurizio Bottalico, building for next month’s Manx Grand Prix, was in tip-top form, accruing back-to-back European Hill Climb affiliated, Superbike, Supersport race successes.
Fellow countryman Salvatore Sallustro headed the Supermoto races, confirmed class Champion Daniele Stolli ensured more Italian glory in the Supersport 300 races whilst number one 250 GP (Grand Prix) was Bernard Depierreux.
The European Hill Climb series, final round, takes place in Germany (Luckendorfer venue), not far away from the border to the Czech Republic (thanks to Jan Vavra for this information).
A Grandstand season finale is on the horizon with just five points covering the current Superbike Championship top-three, Thomas Altendorfer, the above-showcased Bottalico and Sallustro.
Stupendous Salvadori:
Luca Salvadori became Italian Super Open 1000 (Superbike) Hill Climb Champion and he also clocked a new record Spoleto – Forca Di Cerro lap time of one minute 05.48 seconds.
Salvadori formerly of the European Superstock 1000, World Supersport Championships, is like a bolt out the blue this season as a newcomer to pure road racing and Italian hill climbs.
At-a-glance his achievements thus far this year; Deruta-Castelleone (4 wins – new record lap time 1.12.93), Santo Stefano-Dello Spino (4 wins – new record lap time 1.24.93).
Isola Del Liri-Arpino (2 wins), Spoleto – Forca Di Cerro (4 wins – aforementioned-record time), IRRC Hengelo (2 wins – new record lap time 1.45.259), IRRC Schleizer Dreieck (2nd place finish – second fastest lap time in meeting history, 1.26.193 seconds).
He is planning for another IRRC wild-card expedition, at Frohburger Dreieck and we look forward to his plans for the 2025 road racing season.
