FonaCAB Ulster Grand Prix: Kernohan, Dokoupil Secure Respective Lightweight/Ultra Lightweight Provisional Pole Positions

Logan Racing’s Neil Kernohan and Czech roads star Michal ‘Indi’ Dokoupil, secured just after 12:00 PM at the FonaCAB Ulster Grand Prix respective provisional Lightweight, Ultra Lightweight qualifying honours.

Established amongst the leading modern day exponents of two stroke machinery, RS 250 Honda mounted Kernohan (4.00.437) proved untouchable in Lightweight timed practice, registering a best lap time that just exceeded the four minutes mark.

Leading the challenge to Kernohan was 2004 Senior Manx GP winner Davy Morgan (4.08.165), who finished 7.728 seconds down on the pace by dominant class pace setter Kernohan.

Shaun Anderson (4.09.180) finished third quickest, whilst leading 400 mounted competitor was fourth fastest overall Paul ‘Potchy’ Williams (4.10.010).

Looking back on Ultra Lightweight first qualifying, you couldn’t but not be impressed with fans favourite, aforementioned pace setter, Michal Dokoupil.

Piloting the immaculate Ariane Racing Factory Moto 3 steed, Dokoupil widely tipped to be in the mix for Ultra Lightweight class spoils this week, recorded an impressive quickest lap time of 4 minutes 07.498 seconds.

Nearest pursuer to the turn of speed showcased by Dokoupil, was respected Dundrod specialist Christian Elkin (4.09.377).

Gary Dunlop (4.13.056) placed third quickest whilst the likes of Nigel Moore (4.19.218), Melissa Kennedy (4.20.744) and Germany’s Chris Meyer (4.31.388) all enjoyed productive qualifying stints on route to finishing respectively fourth, fifth, sixth fastest.
