Faugheen 50: No Stopping Magnificent McGee In Open Race

Taking place over an hour behind schedule, the open race at Faugheen provided first class Superbike competition as Derek McGee reigned supreme on his own teams ZX-10RR Kawasaki.

Unbeaten on 1000cc machinery within the national roads scene since the reincarnated Enniskillen Road Races, the affable Irishman produced another text book, consistent, world class display to bank the open race crown.

Runner up nigh on eight seconds behind Mullingar’s McGee was TAG Racing IRL’s Brian McCormack, who last month finished a fine tenth within the Pokerstars Senior race of TT 2018.

Superb Faugheen newcomer Davey Todd under 0.2 of a second behind McCormack, added another significant result to his growing roads resume, finishing an excellent third, whilst Thomas Maxwell also hugely impressing in securing a more than creditable fourth place finish.

Paul Jordan finished fifth, Kevin Fitzpatrick was sixth, Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney was seventh as Cornwall’s Forest Dunn, seasoned Manx GP exponent Damian Horan and Noel Carroll concluded the first ten finishers.

Remaining finishers from the six lap race were Glasson’s Paul Fallon and Blackburn’s David Murphy.

Race results are as follows:

1 Derek McGee
2 Brian McCormack
3 Davey Todd
4 Thomas Maxwell
5 Paul Jordan
6 Kevin Fitzpatrick
7 Michael Sweeney
8 Forest Dunn
9 Damian Horan
10 Noel Carroll
