East Coast Racing Festival: Dominant Sheils Banks Big Bike Double

Cookstown BE Racing’s Derek Sheils proved untouchable in the feature race of this years East Coast Racing Festival, as the multi Irish road race Superbike champion dominantly emerged victorious within the seven lap Grand Final race.

Sheils pushed hard by Michael Sweeney in this morning’s Open race, was a class apart this afternoon as he ended his 2018 Irish roads campaign in the best possible fashion.

Super Twins, Supersport Race 2 victor Sweeney, albeit 18 seconds behind dominant race winner Sheils, finalised what’s been an overall excellent local roads tenure in 2018, finishing second after another highly accomplished performance aboard the Martin Jones Racing BMW.

Rounding out the podium finishers was Paul Jordan, who’s set to in November sample for the first time the Macau Grand Prix, competing as at the Ulster GP for Dafabet Devitt Racing.

Newcomers A Manx GP champion Thomas Maxwell was fourth, whilst fifth, sixth place finishers Kevin Fitzpatrick and Paul Gartland also enjoyed highly productive races.

Concluding the top ten finishers were Darryl Tweed, Stephen McKnight, Paul Fallon and fellow recent Mountain Course debutant Alan Johnston.
