Country Crest Support Banked For Skerries Return

Country Crest will continue to provide title sponsorship for the Skerries 100, which is set to return to after an absence of two years, due to effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Due to take place from the 2nd-3rd of July, the Skerries roads extravaganza organised by the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club is a traditional cornerstone of the Irish road racing calendar.

In 2019 those to emerge victorious at Skerries included twice Junior Manx GP winner Michael Sweeney, Vinny Brennan, Neil Kernohan and four stroke races hat-trick hero, 2019 Superbike Classic TT runner-up Derek Sheils.

Candidly speaking about the event’s return, Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club Chairman Thomas Garry stated:

“It seems like an eternity since Derek Sheils crossed the line to take the Country Crest Grand Final in 2019, but we had the belief that we would get road racing back to its home in Skerries, albeit a little later than we thought.

We are delighted to have the sponsorship once again from Country Crest, who have supported us for many years now, and a massive thank you to Michael and Gabriel Hoey for their continued sponsorship.

During the break we still went ahead with the 75th celebration in 2021 and we marked this with the unveiling of a plaque in the Floraville Gardens in the town, along with the original organisers of the event, the Dublin & District Club.

To say we are nervous and excited to be back running, is an understatement and we can’t wait until the start of July to get going again, and we look forward to seeing old and new fans watching the trilling sport of road racing.”

Managing Director of Country Crest Michael Hoey, additionally added:

“We are delighted to once more be the title sponsor of this legendary and long running road race, and it seems an eternity since we heard the sound of racing bikes around the course.

Like the Loughshinny Club, Country Crest is a local business employing over 300 staff, and we love nothing more than supporting a hard-working club like Loughshinny, and helping the community get back to one of the most important parts of life, and that is sport.

We hope that the weather is kind to us, and that the race starved crowds will enjoy two great days qualifying and racing.”

Supersport, 1000cc, Super Twin, yesteryear action and much more is anticipated this summer at Skerries which reminder as showcased above, takes place from the 2nd-3rd July.
