Classic TT Reinstated, Revamped Format For 2025 Manx GP

A revamped Manx Grand Prix for 2025, sees a raft of changes implemented including the Classic TT’s return, as an intertwined independent event.

Much to the joy of numerous racers, teams, sponsors, thousands of road race fans, the two-week format is back. Competitive action is poised to take place from the 17th-29th August (17th-25th for MGP exponents).

MGP affiliated action will see Supersport, Super Twin apparatus prioritised with a brace of races.

Reflecting on the proposed event changes, Manx Motor Cycle Club Chairman, John McBride stated:

“We are incredibly excited for the 2025 Manx Grand Prix. The revised race programme, and modern racing focus will offer competitors and fans alike a highly competitive and thrilling spectacle.

We are pleased to be able to give our riders better value for money with two races per class, as well as increased practice time, and feel that this re-focussed approach, will ensure that the event can continue to play an important role in road racing for many years to come.”

In terms of the reinstated Classic TT, last held in 2019, a five-race format involves Formula 1, Lightweight, Historic Junior, Historic Senior, Senior Classic (yesteryear Superbikes) contests.

There’s also set to be parade laps, a whole plethora of nostalgia, attractions celebrating the TT Races vibrant, rich, significant history.

Surmising the Classic TT’s reinstatement, Paul Phillips stated:

“The Classic TT captured the imagination of fans when it ran previously, and we are excited to bring it back as a celebration of some of the most iconic decades in TT history. The 1980s and 1990s in-particular were a time of intense rivalries, iconic machines and record-breaking racing, and this event will be a place where fans can reconnect with those unforgettable moments.

The Classic TT will not only honour the great riders of those eras but also provide a chance to see some of legendary machines roar back to life on the Mountain Course, piloted by the best riders of the modern day.”
