Cerveny Strengthens Championship Lead, Wins 24th IRRC Race

Marek Cerveny’s quest for a third IRRC Supersport title, gained further momentum this morning after triumphing in the middleweight class race opener at Horice.

Second across opening laps by lap three the Czech roads great was P1, taking the front running advantage away from early race leader, Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Thomas Walther.

Although Walther would trim Cerveny’s race lead to only 0.136 of a second, at lap six’s completion, he ultimately had to give second best to the WRP/AAB Racing supported rider, who’s final race winning margin post the tenth, final lap’s finalisation stood at just under one second.

With Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Jorn Hamberg a non-finisher, Cerveny’s 24th IRRC race victory, increases his overall Supersport Championship lead to 37 points.

Joining Cerveny, Walther on the Supersport Race One rostrum was Kamil Holan whilst another Czech Mountain Course hero placed fourth, Michal ‘Indi’ Dokoupil.

Positions fifth to seventh were occupied by Wolfgang Schuster, Ilja Caljouw and Karel Brandtner whilst the improving French duo of Julien Cregniot, Romain Cleaz-Savoyen placed eighth, ninth respectively.

Respected European Hill Climb Championship exponent Mauro Poncini completed the first ten finishers.

UK racers wise, twice Supersport TT winner Gary Johnson enjoyed a solid run to thirteenth whilst Never Be Clever Racing’s Darryl Anderson finished 16th.
