Brookes Eager To Scratch NW200 Victory Objective

Amongst the most versatile racers of his generation, equally capable of BSB title success, roads circuit triumphs, DAO Racing’s Josh Brookes is eager to scratch the Northwest 200 victory itch.

A previous lap-record holder from 2014, podium finisher x3, the Australian is no stranger to running at the sharp end of NW200 races but as-yet has not found the formula for a victory accolade.

“I still haven’t won a race at the Northwest and that bothers me a bit.

Riders like Alastair Seeley have lots of wins around here and although I don’t see that as a target, there is still that thing inside you that thinks I could have, should have, would have won at least once by now.

And I have still got that desire that makes me want to come back and try.”

Carl Cox Motorsport/Uggly and Co GSXR 750 Suzuki, Superstock, Superbike Honda equipped for May’s Supersport, 1000cc encounters around the 8.9 miles in distance Triangle course, the 2017 Senior Classic TT winner added:

“I will be forty-three next month, but I don’t think the incentive to succeed dulls with age. The experience and knowledge you get from competing across a-lot of different race series gives you something that you can bring to the party.

But experience does not make you brake later or open the throttle earlier; it only helps provide a safer passage through tricky terrain.

I was miles away from a win or even a podium last year but there have been moments in the past when it could have been. Logically my best chance is in the Superbike class, and I still think it is a realistic possibility. I am still chasing it.”
