By 23 times Oliver’s Mount race winner Joey Thompson, latest Scarborough racing venture thanks to the endeavours of his father John Thompson, is set to include action astride GSX-R 750 SRAD Suzuki machinery, having struck an agreement with Nigel Rea, Ben Rea’s family run Rea Racing team.
Currently leading the overall Oliver’s Mount Championship standings for feature races during 2023, ‘Joey Yorkshire’ recently stated the following:
“It is very last minute as always but with thanks to Rea-Racing we have managed to grab a ride on a Classic Superbike for the Barry Sheene event at Oliver’s Mount.
Our main focus is point collecting for the overall championship which I am currently leading.
But if the weather plays ball, hopefully I can push on and run up the front.
A massive thank you to Nigel & my dad for sorting this deal out last minute!”
Nigel Rea added about the newly formed deal for this weekend’s Barry Sheene Classic.
“There are some extremely talented riders on extremely well-prepared bikes entered this weekend and we are just really happy that our small family team can get Joey on track in the feature race.
He’s a class act and has ridden with some great teams and proven himself time and time again, I’m sure he can get right in the mix and do himself proud on our ‘big Suzy’.”
