Barry Sheene Classic – Driffield’s Harrison Steps Up Scarborough Pace

Dan Harrison’s first road race outing with TT, Southern 100 podium finisher’s DTR (Danny Tomlinson Racing), yielded multiple prominent feats as the Driffield racer stepped up his pace at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough.

The three day Barry Sheene Classic, the UK’s first roads event of 2020, of this decade began for the affable Harrison with qualification for the Supersport B races, having qualified overall 32nd quickest from the middleweight class qualifying sessions.

Race action wise, after placing 18th in the opening Supersport B race stint, the corresponding class encounter saw YZF R6 Yamaha mounted Harrison finish fourth on the results sheet but first on track, following an action packed six laps of England’s only closed roads course.

Harrison’s run to fourth was eventful to put it mildly, having been in prime contention for race honours before a mid race mistake at Farm Bends saw him receive a three place penalty for gaining a judged illegal advantage.

The two times top 35 TT finisher would go onto take a very respectable top ten finish, in the third Supersport A encounter, having been moved up on Sunday to the feature Supersport class.

18th fastest overall from the weekend’s competition thanks to a new PB Scarborough lap time of 1 minute 55.791 seconds, DTR’s Harrison who left the Scarborough paddock with a fair degree of positivity next upcoming race action sees him sample the latest NG Road Racing round at Cadwell Park.
