Athea Road Races Poised For Comeback In September

Fourteen years since it’s last instalment, the Athea Road Races are poised for a comeback, with competitive action hoped to commence across the 13th-14th of September.

Proposed meeting organisers, the South West Motorcycle Road Race Club, have confirmed that crucial insurance-cover is in place, thanks to the help of RRAI (Road Race Alliance of Ireland).

First held in 2002, the most recent Athea Road Races edition in 2011, attracted a top draw entry list.

TT wins record holder Michael Dunlop, the late great William Dunlop shared the Open, Supersport, Grand Final victories.

Future Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Derek McGee clinched Senior Support category spoils whilst added race winners included BE/RK Racing Team Principal John Burrows (Super Twins), Andy Farrell (Supersport 400) and Freddie Stewart (Classic 500).
