Armoy: Browne Tops Ducati Antrim Supersport Race

Morning rain showers at Armoy, meant tricky, challenging conditions, awaiting Ducati Antrim Supersport race participants.

During the warm-up lap, a major oil spillage arose covering the entire 3.03 miles in distance Armoy circuit, forced a substantial delay to race action. Once the oil spillage was cleaned up, racing re-commenced at close to 12:30 PM.

Michael Browne, Dominic Herbertson were out front as lap one finalised. Unfortunately, the contest was then stopped on lap two.

After another delay, the second race start saw current ‘Race of Legends’ Champion Browne dominate, speeding away from lead pursuers, Paul Jordan and Russell Racing team-mate Richard Cooper.

Cut to five laps, Browne’s race winning advantage, was a whisker under six seconds with Jordan edging seven times Northwest 200 winner Cooper for third.

On aggregate timing, BE/RK Racing’s Derek McGee banked fourth, Conor Cummins took fifth with Shaun Buckle (P6), Sean Brolly (P7), Kevin Keyes (P8), Johnny Stewart (P9), Roadhouse Macau team’s David Datzer (P10), recording sixth to tenth place finishes.

Race non-starters included Friday evening Supersport race rostrum finisher, Joe Yeardsley, Marcus Simpson, Michael Sweeney and Joey Thompson.
