Ambition Fulfilled, Hillier Finishes Dakar Rally

Post 70 hours of riding across Saudi Arabia, OMG Racing’s James Hillier has achieved his ambition, completing the world’s most famous rally raid event, the Dakar Rally.

Finishing today’s 14th, final stage, Al Hofuf to Dammam, 14 times TT podium finisher Hillier despite nursing a dislocated shoulder injury obtained during stage no.5, finished 76th overall, 13th in terms of Motul Originals class exponents.

The first racer within the 21st century to claim a TT Races victory, finish the Dakar, one cannot but doff your cap to the Ringwood speedster.

Outright Dakar motorbike honours for 2023 went to Kevin Benavides, getting the better of factory Red Bull KTM team-mate, former event winner Toby Price.

Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Skyler Howes rounded out the podium finishers whilst top British racer in front of 2013 Lightweight TT winner Hillier, was fellow Dakar debutant Makis Dewi Rees-Stavros.
