Armoy: KMR Kawasaki’s Cooper Reels In John M Paterson Super Twins Contest

Armoy Road Races first-timer Richard Cooper (KMR Kawasaki/Jack Reid Cars) added John M Paterson Super Twins success to his storied racing CV, as the Nottingham rider showed the talent, pace that has taken him to seven Northwest 200 wins, two National Superstock 1000 Championship titles, feature race victories at Whanganui and the Oliver’s Mount Bob Smith Spring Cup.

Despite conditions still not been 100 percent to say the least, Cooper’s turn of speed, particularly in closing race laps was nothing short of sensational, registering post the wrap up of the seventh, final lap, a new Twins lap-record of 1 minute 47.012 seconds.

Friday’s Twins victor, Michael Browne (Melbray Racing – Paton), Paul Jordan, who both had turns at the front, collected second, third behind Cooper, with under 0.08 of a second, separating them.

Dominic Herbertson was again lead Sportbike pilot in fourth, Neil Kernohan, Dean McMaster, thanks to aggregate timing hauled fifth, sixth place finishes.

Sean Brolly (P7 SB Racing – Aprilia), Johnny Stewart (P8), Open (B) Race winner Shaun Buckle (P9), Graham McAleese (P10 – FAO Racing – Aprilia) capped off the results sheet top ten.

Just four more racers were recognised as race finishers, Scott Aitkin (P11), Kris Duncan (P12), Oliver Morgan Edwards (P13) and Lee Osprey (P14).
