You name it, rain, intermittent rain, blustery winds, blue skies, all kinds of weather descended upon Oliver’s Mount Scarborough today.
Racing wise, the quality was much more consistent than the clouds looming over Scarborough.
Milenco by Padgetts Davey Todd made it four successive Supersport A race triumphs and on-route to morning Supersport success, set the fastest lap of the 70th Scarborough Gold Cup, lapping at 1.45.756 seconds.
Dafabet Racing’s Rob Hodson, Gold Cup winner Adam McLean shared the Super Twins race honours whilst multiple Manx GP winner Hodson, claimed overall Twins weekend race spoils.
Jim Hind made it 11 Oliver’s Mount victories with success in the third Lightweight class encounter, which he won by over 39 seconds!
The fourth, final Lightweight race saw 186 plate holder Jamie Kelman, join the Scarborough race winners circle after problems for early race leader, two stroke racing specialist Chris Moore.
Adrian Harrison, Paul Marley gained Supersport B-race successes, Greenall Racing’s Derek Sheils stormed to a Classic Superbike double victory whilst fellow countryman, 2019 Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Michael Sweeney, enjoyed a productive day, banking no less than four top three finishes.
Jamie Ingham, brother of ‘Tommy Club’ member Dan Ingham, got the better of Vinny Brennan for Support race honours, Lee Crawford/Jake Lowther finished the 2022 Gold Cup meeting unbeaten, following Sidecars race three, four triumphs.
Famous visitors in attendance today included legendary Sidecar passenger Tony Hewitt, synonymous for his partnership with ten times World Champion Steve Webster MBE.
I’ve got to mention as well in this article, a major shout-out to Hayley Colebrook and Shaun Dalton, who have been vitally important in ensuring racing’s revival to Oliver’s Mount, since race action returned in 2019.
