Runner up within the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup, Manchester’s Mike Norbury went one better in the corresponding second Supersport A race, clinching in comprehensive fashion class honours.
Piloting the Spada backed Honda that hasn’t missed a beat throughout this weekend’s competitive action at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, the former protege of 2009 TT Zero winner Rob Barber completed the reduced in distance six lap race, over 6.6 seconds clear of lead pursuer, VRS Racing’s Brad Vicars.
Speedy Tyres supported Don Gilbert produced a fantastic ride to finish a fine third, whilst Brian Greenfield on his 19 year old ZX6R Kawasaki mount, KY-JAX Racing’s Ben Shuttlewood also quietly impressed on route to respective fourth, fifth place finishes.
York’s Joe Thompson, 12 times a race winner at Scarborough, placed sixth, FR Racing’s Sam Johnson took seventh whilst remaining race finishers, leading local racer Paul Marley, Darlington’s Stephen Degnan scooped respectable eighth, ninth place finishes.
In total just 11 racers took part in the six lap race, with the likes of Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup winner Lee Johnston, Stephen Parsons, David ‘Action’ Jackson, Russ Mountford all electing not to take part, largely due to the tricky course conditions.
