2026 Manx GP: Supersport Race Analysis

After a faultless outing aboard the LPA Racing Ducati, Johnny Stewart added Glover Law Supersport Manx GP success to his prior Road Racing News Sportbike race triumph.

Right from the start Stewart who secured the final place amongst the ‘Tommy Club,’ was showing striking pace, attaining a race lead of 13 seconds plus by the Ramsey Hairpin timing section.

The Galashiels rider setting a new race record lap speed of 121.663 mph, race lead as lap one finalised stood at 17.828 seconds.

Remaining laps would see the affable Scotsman continue to dominate ultimately-take the-contest spoils by over one minute!

Long term second place attainer Lee Hara, who joined Stewart in lapping 120 mph plus, podium finishing pursuit came to an abrupt halt on the last lap, crashing out at Braddan.

We wish the next gen roads scene talent, a swift and speedy recovery.

Hara’s poor luck enabled fellow Northern Irish rider, first time MGP rostrum finisher, Ulster Road Race Classic Superbike Champion Graham McAleese (final lap – lap speed – 120.667) to jump up to second with Eddy Wormald third (final lap – lap speed – 119.822), making it back-to-back rostrum finishes.

Rounding out the top ten leader-board were Andy Farrell (Smith Racing – Triumph), Owen Monaghan, Liam Chawke, Harley Rushton, top debutant Laurent Hoffmann (Bell Bikesport – Yamaha – final lap – lap speed – 119.612), Kyle Casement and Gabriel Pons.

In total, forty-four competitors reached the race’s conclusion.

Post Race Reaction:

Saturday Manx GP Races winner x2 Johnny Stewart:

“Unbelievable, it was mega, not expected at all just chipped away all week and just tried to keep it consistent.”

“I could see +30 on the boards and I thought I’ll back off a little bit here then I was hitting bumps I wouldn’t normally hit.

So, I thought I will just keep in my rhythm and just keep going the way I am, I think it’s safer that way if you start taking your eye off the ball as such, you start doing silly things so just kept it consistent and come home safe.”
