2026 Manx GP: Sportbike Race Analysis

Making good on his sterling qualifying week form, Galashiels Johnny Stewart flew to Road Racing News Sportbike Manx Grand Prix glory.

10.617 seconds in front at lap one’s end, Stewart who set on the third and final lap, the race’s fastest lap (116.844 mph – 19 minutes 22.474 seconds), final race winning advantage, nudged past twenty-two seconds.

Tenacious lead chaser throughout, Eddy Wormald (Flitwick Motorcycles/SMV – R7 Yamaha) took second with impeccable MGP newcomer Kevin Lavery (LMR/KMR Kawasaki) a fine third.

No.1 plate holder Andy Farrell (Electric Van Company by Steadplan – RS660 Aprilia) placed fourth as Graham McAleese, Dan Sayle (RPM Motorcycles/Barnes Racing – RS660 Aprilia), Liam Chawke (KMR Kawasaki), Owen Monaghan (Alan Chamley Racing – RS660 Aprilia), Lee Hara (GW Auto Repairs – RS660 Aprilia), Stephen Gorton (Leigh MOT’s – RS660 Aprilia) capped off the top ten finishers.

Eleventh to fifteenth were Faraldo Racing’s Kyle Casement, David McArthur (Earthmoving Extras – Aprilia), Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments Illiam Quayle, Will Burchell (SWB Racing – Suzuki) and Luke Blevins (SRL Lime Plastering – Aprilia).

Thirty-five finishers race in total completed the contest with twenty-five of the finishers gaining silver, bronze replica trophies.

The only competitors whose overall race times dipped below one hour, were the afore-mentioned top six of Stewart, Wormald, Lavery, Farrell, McAleese, and Sayle.
