Rarely failing to excite, pulsate, more crackerjack Pub & Kitchen Super Twin race bursts are coming up at Scarborough’s road-racing utopia, Oliver’s Mount.
Unbeaten last year in Twins contests at England’s sole, active real roads venue, the formidable Rob Hodson, SMT Racing Paton combination, starts it is fair to say pre-event favourite.
New to S1-R Paton equipment, Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments Franco Bourne, core speed, National Superstock 1000 race winning ability was evident throughout his debut Oliver’s season in 2025.
With fresh impetus, growing experience of North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’, productive testing stints concluded recently in Spain, Bourne heads into the Spring Cup primed for category victory pursuits.
Additional pilots in the same boat as Bourne include 2024 King of The Mount Gary McCoy (MadBros Racing – ER6 Kawasaki), Joey Thompson (TH Racing – RS660 Aprilia), No Limits Racing Champion, Manx GP winner Lewis Arrowsmith.
Johnny Stewart (J Stewart Garage Service – RS660 Aprilia), Andy Smart (VRS Racing – R7 Yamaha), Ryan Dixon (Trickbits Racing – SV650 Suzuki), Barry Furber (DC Motorcycles – R7 Yamaha), Aran Sadler (AS Electricals – RS660 Aprilia), Tom Weeden (Club 77 – RS660 Aprilia) all must not be discounted from sealing P1, first three leaderboard finishes.
Further depth to the thirty-five strong field, is provided by a plethora of new wave, vastly experienced, hungry Scarborough newcomers, including:
The Cowton Racing duo of William Grant and Bailey Harker, Stephen Gorton, Rhys Hardisty, David McArthur (Fostec Engineering – ER6 Kawasaki).
Fred McMullan (Orwell Motorcycles Ipswich – SV650 Suzuki), Russell Brook, Michael Allen, Oliver Morgan Edwards, Craig Szczypek.
Daniel Pearson, the inspirational Chris Ganley (CC Motorcycle Training – ER6 Kawasaki), Arthur Gissing (NL Components – GSXR Suzuki).
Motorcycling journalist, top five TT finisher Adam ‘Chad’ Child (Moto 12 CF Moto – 675 SR-R CF Moto), Colin ‘Crofty’ Croft and headline debutants Illiam Quayle (Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments – S1-R Paton), seven times Northwest 200 winner Richard Cooper (Powerslide Suzuki).
As stated previously, whilst new to Scarborough, you would be brave to discount the Nottingham rider from running near the front.
Hodson’s reign as Super Twins ‘King Pin’ to continue? Surprise winners? Will Cooper beat established circuit veterans?
All these questions and tens more will be answered soon, with the returning Bob Smith Cup meeting nearing, day by day.
