Greenall Racing’s Rob Hodson maintained his 100 percent 2020’s Manx GP, Classic Superbike race podium finishing record on Monday evening, finishing second, a shade under fourteen seconds adrift of Michael Browne.
Averaging 122.359 mph, Hodson upped his overall total of MGP podiums to eight.
Prior to this achievement, Road Racing News had an impromptu chat with him, about the challenges of qualifying week, race expectations.
Enduring a spate of teething troubles with the Greenall ZX7RR Kawasaki, which he hasn’t previously piloted on the Mountain Course, Hodson said:
“Practice week’s been a bit of a challenge, team have tried everything possible, swapped everything on the bike, never missed a beat previously but this year it seems to be throwing up a few gremlins.”
The Southern 100, Super Twins lap record holder added:
“Once we get those out the way, I’m comfortable with the handling of the bike, we’ve got a good chassis set-up now and if I can get a good start and press on, I don’t see why we can’t challenge for the win.
Greenall team have pulled out all the stops this week because of the challenges that have been thrown up.”
Hodson’s next roads scene appearance commences next week at Scarborough, tackling the prestigious Steve Henshaw Gold Cup.
“Back to Oliver’s Mount for that one, really looking forward to that, got the entry in, not sure what bikes we will be taking, we’ve entered the Super Twin, the 600 and the Classic Superbike.
See how Monday goes, that’ll be our next one, there’s not much of a gap in between, were pretty much back home then straight back at it, hopefully good race on Monday, see if we can get on that box then get to Oliver’s, see if we can make some improvements there again.”
After Gold Cup endeavours, ‘130 Mph’ club member Hodson is aiming to conclude 2024 road racing outings at the Macau Grand Prix, competing for Robin Croft’s SMT Racing team on Superbike Fireblade Honda tackle.
